AMBASSADOR SPOTLIGHT: Payton Idrogo

Oregon Born has been incredibly blessed with the most amazing group of brand ambassadors. Periodically we will be featuring Q & A posts with Oregon Born Ambassadors that will allow you to get to know them a little better.

This is the seventh post in our Ambassador series.

What is your name?
Payton Idrogo

Do you have any nicknames?
My nickname is Walter, due to the fact that I was named after Walter Payton.

Where were you born?
Klamath Falls, OR

When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
When I was a child I wanted to be a doctor, I never really grew out of that though, since now I want to get my doctorate in Psychology.

 

Why did you want to become an Oregon Born ambassador?
I wanted to become an Oregon Born ambassador because I love meeting new people and the ambassador program is a great way to do so. Not to mention that I love a lot of their designs, and now I get to wear them to promote the brand.

What is your favorite part about being an Oregon Born ambassador?
My favorite part is that the ambassadors get to help the business, whether it's our opinion on a new design or doing challenges to help promote the brand. The owners value our opinions, and I appreciate that I can be a part of that.

 

What is your favorite thing about Oregon?
My favorite thing about Oregon is probably the weather. The weather in every city/town is different and I don't know why, but I love that. I'm from Klamath, where it's nickname is City of Sunshine because we get the most sunshine out of the whole state. Although if you go to Portland it may rain the most out of Oregon. Also in Klamath we actually get snow in the winter so that is also a plus!

What is your favorite food?
My favorite food is probably buffalo chicken fries. We have a Chicken Shack in Klamath and I always get buffalo chicken fries.

What is your favorite hobby?
My favorite hobby is reading. I have loved reading since I was a kid, but now I usually just read on my phone instead of actual books.

What is your favorite travel destination?
My favorite travel destination is probably Disneyland. It's cliche, but I love the Disney parks and I actually get to go to Disney World in the fall.

What kind of pets do you have, if any? What are their names?
I do not have any pets. It's so sad, but I'm not allowed to have any in my apartment.

What causes are you passionate about?
I am very passionate about organ donation. I am currently a volunteer for Donate Life Northwest, as well as having Donate Life as my social impact initiative. I use my platforms to bring awareness to organ donation and help inform the community on how to become a registered organ donor.

 

Do you volunteer? If so, where?
This is less about volunteering and more so what I do for my social impact, but I am currently doing a series of interviews for Donate Life. I am interviewing those who have donated an organ, received an organ, or have a family member or friend who has gone through the process. This is my way of helping people get their stories out there and share what organ donation means to them.

What is an interesting fact about you?
An interesting fact about me is I only have one kidney. I had hydronephrosis when I was born and they did surgery on my kidney, but my body ended up absorbing the kidney. This is what helps drive my passion for organ donation.

What accomplishment are you most proud of?
An accomplishment I am most proud of is the fact that I was Miss City of Sunshine 2021. It was my first year doing pageants, so I am very proud of my myself for winning.

 

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In five years I hope to have gotten my bachelors in applied psychology and to be working on my masters in applied psychology, working towards my goal of being a forensic psychologist.

Favorite book?
My favorite book has to be The Hunger Games. I read it in elementary school, but it is so good and has a special place in my heart.

Favorite song?
My favorite song at the moment is It's On Again by Alicia Keys.

Favorite movie?
My favorite movie is Spiderman: No Way Home. It is just such a good movie.

And lastly, what was your favorite TV show when you were 5 years old. And what is your favorite TV show today?
My favorite show when I was probably That's So Raven. My favorite show now is 9-1-1.
